Welcome to Spain

An average 2.5 hours flying time from the UK.

Spain has the longest coastline in Europe and with over 300 days of sunshine it is little wonder that Spain and the Balearic Islands remain top destinations for relocation.

Mallorca forms the largest of the Balearic Islands which also consists of Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera and is often referred to as the gateway to the Mediterranean.

Spain and its Islands have always been popular for their diverse scenery and multi-cultural society and never more so than now.

With excellent year round climate and spectacular scenery both the mainland and the Balearics are truly cosmopolitan which is reflected in the many restaurants who promote cuisine from far flung countries around the globe.

Recent years have seen a steady increase in the development of recreational facilities; Spain and the Islands are becoming renowned for outstanding golf courses, endless activity sports and leisure centres are being built wherever you go.  Thanks to some stunning locations riding has also become extremely popular and the great thing is, all these facilities are available to everyone.

Continuous investment means the quality and standard of life are excellent.   The vast ongoing road improvements and rail development with more plans ahead to further extend the network leave little of Spain inaccessible which in itself has increased opportunities tenfold.

Growth within the business sector has been phenomenal with Spain and the Islands seeing dramatic changes into the type of businesses now operating which has fueled a steady influx of quality investment.

Generally speaking, even the smallest businesses are thriving; the relentless grip the marine industry has in the Balearics goes from strength to strength and Mallorca is a respected world class player in services provided in the nautical sector and to yacht and superyacht owners with high purchasing power.

Rural tourism is growing, with fincas and small hotels providing exceptional quality and standards.

Of course there will always be a place for traditional tourism which has also seen an upturn; millions of euros are being invested by the government to ensure that it remains part of Spanish life. Aims are to improve traditional tourism standards, along with developing the winter season and to encourage Spain and the Islands as weekend destinations.

Spain has something to satisfy most, from breathtaking fiestas and fireworks to its fascinating history.

Many languages are spoken including Catalan, however as Castilian is widely used; you should have little problems with the language as many people and organisations do speak some English. However, learning even some basic Spanish will stand you in good stead and many a good relationship has been borne by practising a new language often with hilarious results.

Schooling is excellent, whether you choose to send your children to a local school or to one of the international schools you will not be disappointed by the standard of education.
